A: With Hashimoto's, I found that people become sensitized to dairy protein. It could be whey, it could be casein, or it could be both. Unfortunately, this issue often occurs when you're exposed to dairy that isn’t organic, grass-fed, and unpasteurized. People become sensitized to that protein, and then they'll even react to organic, grass-fed, grass-finished, unpasteurized dairy.
For the purposes of the program, I recommend staying off dairy for at least 30 days, to see if that is making a difference in their health. In my experience, about 80% of people with Hashimoto's and adrenal issues and inflammation in their bodies feel better when they avoid dairy. Hopefully, eliminating dairy will be helpful during the program for most people.
Generally, it is recommended to stay off dairy indefinitely, however, I’m working on reversing dairy sensitivity, so be sure to stay on Thyroid Pharmacist's email list for updates.
