A: Dairy yogurt is not approved for this program, as dairy is a common food sensitivity for people with Hashimoto’s and can directly increase one’s thyroid antibodies. Some people may have a primary dairy sensitivity, while others may develop a secondary dairy sensitivity due to gluten-induced damage to the gut.
That said, you can substitute dairy yogurt with coconut or almond yogurt, preferably one without fillers or additives.
Generally, it is recommended to stay off dairy indefinitely, however, I’m working on reversing dairy sensitivity, so be sure to stay on Thyroid Pharmacist's email list for updates.
