Year 6

In Year 6, the children learn how to share opinions on hobbies in French. They gradually build up complex sentences, conjugating the verb aimer, using prepositions, conjunctions, various time phrases and fronted adverbials. The children become very skilled in being able to manipulate complex sentences, such as Quelque fois en hiver, j'aime faire du ski en France avec mes amis cependant je n'aime pas faire de la natation avec mon équip.

The children learn vocabulary related to the solar system and decode text from a French non-fiction book, L'Univers. This project gives the children the opportunity to revisit writing descriptions and to revise the grammar rules for adjectival agreement and position. Within a scafolded framework, the children write a detailed description of an imaginative planet.

Before their language learning journey at WHA comes to an end, the children have fun writing their own version of Imagine, a song describing a very peculiar word.
