As TKA has grown, we have introduced different schemes to allow parents/carers to purchase a Chromebook for their children. Generally, the scheme that you will be on depends on when your child received their new Chromebook. The links below will provide further information on the individual schemes:
When you join a TKA Chromebook scheme, there are a number of goods and services provided. You should note that the scheme provides a number of additional benefits over and above a straightforward purchase of a device.
Membership of the TKA Chromebook scheme is mandatory for pupils, and includes the following:
A Chromebook device and charger.
A protective case.
A management licence to allow TKA to apply policies to the device.
Software to filter web access and allow monitoring by teachers when in school.
Insurance to cover damage (lease and Freedom Technology only) or contribution towards technical support (in house scheme only).
A contribution to the "device pool" that provides temporary loan machines for pupils whose devices are lost or in repair.
Management of the devices in school by operations and technical staff.
If your child is in receipt of free school meals, or you are on a low income, you may be eligible for your membership of the scheme to be subsidised by TKA. Please contact the operations team for further details at office@thekingstonacademy.org.
The average lifespan of such devices is three years and parents/carers should expect to replace their devices at this point. TKA will offer the free labour service for the fourth year. But thereafter for any further years, parents/carers may have to pay for the repair labour charges as well as replacement parts.
