REASONS TO PLAY LEGO

Maverick Lau lists the many benefits of playing with the "perfect toy."

Did you know that playing Lego is beneficial because it helps you to improve your problem-solving skills? Lego originally started as a wooden toy company founded by Ole Kirk Christiansen in 1932. Two years later he named the company Lego, after the Danish phrase leg godt which translates as “play well” in English. In 1949 LEGO produced its first plastic brick, a predecessor to its signature brick with interconnecting studs on the top and tubes on the bottom. Nowadays, LEGO is one of the most popular toys not only in Germany but all over the world. I believe LEGO is a perfect toy for everybody because anyone who plays it can have fun while strengthening their fine motor skills and learning how to build.

The first reason that Lego is a perfect toy, is that it is really easy to build with and can only take a few minutes to learn. You can have a lot of fun building any object using your imagination. It is even more interesting when you challenge yourself by constructing something that you have never built before, it makes you feel confident and resilient. For example, one time at school I had to build a volcano and set up structures that helped to survive the eruption with my friends. This was a little challenging because every group took each other's lego, we needed more Lego blocks and my group had to be innovative to replace the missing blocks. Another example was when I had to build a tower with Lego using chopsticks with my friends and it kept falling but it was still so much fun and even though we were frustrated, we kept laughing all the time. I think that when you challenge yourself, it will help you learn to grow your mindset and become stronger.

The next reason why Lego is a perfect toy is because it enhances your fine motor skills. Playing with Lego is a great exercise for your fingers and helps you learn to hold a pencil and apply the right amount of pressure when writing. LEGO also helps to strengthen your three-dimensional viewing and organisational skills. For example, when moving to a new place you can use those skills to rearrange your house and assemble or fit furniture into tight spaces. Playing Lego can inspire you to become an architect to design and construct buildings.

In conclusion, Lego is undoubtedly the best toy because not only do people of all ages have fun when playing it but also gain from learning new skills and becoming resilient. Because of all of  the educational opportunities that LEGO brings, people of all ages can use this toy that helps them to enjoy time and benefit from educational experience. The Lego bricks enhance abilities like fine motor skills and resilience in addition to encouraging creativity and imagination. Lego provides something for everyone, regardless of age, whether you are an adult looking for a relaxing activity to do or a toddler discovering the joy of construction. Lego is the perfect toy for all ages, even for people with disabilities. Don’t you still think that Lego is the best possible toy?
