HACKERS LEAK GTA6

Kaito Smidt-Olsen reports on one of the most talked about video game heists of the year.

In mid-September there was a massive file leak at the game development company Rockstar. As some of you know, Rockstar is the creator of the popular Grand Theft Auto video game series.

On September 18, a hacker leaked videos and files of a new game the Rockstar is developing; Grand Theft Auto 6. The hacker was a 17-year-old boy in Oxfordshire, England. He was trying to sell files and videos of the development of the game. The police arrested him, charging him with “computer misuse”.

Although the hacker was caught, there are still many consequences for the company. The company might lose some sales of GTA 6. This is because people have already written reviews and criticized the game based on the leak. This might lead to less interest about the game, and loss of sales.

The hacker managed to get these files by gaining access to some of the employees’ login credentials. He then could access all these files and easily download them. He then posted these files on social media websites.

This kind of leak and hack has happened many times before to companies such as Uber, Microsoft, Samsung, and Nvidia. Uber also said that they are working with the FBI over an investigation behind all of these hacks. Uber revealed that the hacker of Rockstar, was linked to a group named Lapus$.
