What we're learning in Third Grade Music

In third grade, students will be reading music with recorders, bells, and boomwhackers. students will explore through singing, rhythmic identification through rhythm games, listening, and sharing talents. Students will share what they've learned in their quarterly assemblies!

RHYTHM Review previous concepts of rhythm and meter, introduce additional rhythms (mixed eighth and sixteenth patterns), anacrusis

MELODY Review Sol, Mi, La, Do and Re. Introduce Low Sol, low La, and high Do

FORM Review forms with A and B section, introduce Rondo

TEXTURE & HARMONY Layered ostinati, I-V bassline (home and away), round

INSTRUMENTS Reading music with recorders, bells, and boomwhackers
