Pass hiring requirements, as outlined by our school partners, including a background check and drug testing
Reside in South Florida at the time of enrollment
Have valid work authorization

*Candidates with international degrees must complete an Accuplacer ESL exam, as required by MDC, to demonstrate English language proficiency.
In addition to meeting all TAP eligibility requirements, to qualify for TAP’s summer training and the $3,000 portion of the $5,000 total stipend, candidates must meet the following criteria by the start of TAP Summer.
Adherence to the TAP Candidate Handbook.
Fingerprinting with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, where the summer internship will be conducted.
100% attendance in the TAP course, with rare exceptions for medical emergencies, family deaths, and other significant circumstances. All absences, regardless of the reason, require documentation and TAP Staff approval to avoid being exited from the program.
A passing grade of C or better in the TAP course, with a recommendation from the professor.
Adherence to TAP’s testing policy, which requires at least 2 SAE attempts or a passing score before the summer internship for classes starting September through January, and at least 1 SAE attempt or a passing score for classes starting in February and March.
For those with a “teachable major,” submission of your Statement of Eligibility is required before the summer internship.
The ultimate goal for any TAP candidate is to be pinned as a TAP teacher and start the school year as a full-time educator. To qualify for TAP’s Pinning Ceremony, hiring support, and the remaining $2,000 of the $5,000 total stipend, candidates must meet the following criteria by the end of TAP Summer.
Passing your subject area exam or applying for a Statement of Eligibility.
Adherence to the TAP Candidate Handbook.

Complete, thorough, and on-time lesson plans as defined by TAP.
