“But first, let me take a selfie.” That’s great, you’ve mastered the art of the selfie, now you’re ready to fine-tune your photographic skills and explore how this art form has been instrumental in documenting culture, creating art, exposing facts and creating fiction. Content creation and student/client projects will also be infused into the course. *please note: client list varies from year to year

Students enrolled in this course will acquire the following photographic skills: develop an eye for composition, create visual narratives, become more versed in media literacy, learn editing software, learn the functions of a DSLR, and use photography and social media for promotional purposes.

Works by significant photographers, both historic and contemporary, will be studied. Students will learn how to discuss their own work and the work of others using vocabulary of the discipline and participate in open critiques. As you can see by the images, a number of shoots happen in and around the city.
