This course follows the guidelines set out by the Ministry of Education: The Ontario Curriculum grades 11 and 12: The Arts, 2010. This course requires students to put together and present dramatic works dealing with stories, personal experiences, and local issues. Students will do research on and study contemporary theatrical forms, such as docudrama and forum theatre. They will interpret and present works in a variety of dramatic forms; create and script original works; analyze and reflect on dramatic works; and develop their communication skills and other skills useful in a variety of careers. This is a performance-oriented course; therefore you will be expected to rehearse and prepare in class as well as out of class to fulfill curriculum requirements. The expectations within the Ontario Curriculum are organized into 3 interrelated strands: Creating and Presenting; Reflecting, Responding and Analyzing; and Foundations.
