The Madonna ISP program prides itself in creating self-advocating students who can work to their best abilities in either supervised or independent settings. Through programs such as the Madonna Coffee Club and school work experience, the students of the ISP program will learn practical life skills which can be used not only in everyday life, but in the broader community and workplace. The independence for the students is expanded through weekly trips to our local grocery store Metro where students experience practical mathematical/ literacy training buying items within a given budget and following a given shopping list. The students then transform these purchases into a weekly recipes giving them a new level of independence in the kitchen.
In addition to our ISP program, Madonna CSS offers full supports for students with an Individual Educational Plan (IEP). The mandate of the Special Education Department is to support the implementation of the Identification, Placement and Review Committee recommendations, in a spirit of partnership with the students, parents, classroom teachers, guidance counsellors and administration. Individual student supports include: monitoring and support by the Special Education teacher and program accommodations and/or modifications.
The student success team at Madonna C.S.S. compliments and supports students with academic support beyond the classroom. Our team is actively involved in helping classroom teachers meet the needs of the diverse needs of all students.
Students receiving Student Success support benefit from individualized attention and support, and are able to choose from more options for learning, such as expanded co-operative education, Specialist High Skills Majors, dual credits and e-learning.
