Analysis of Eureka Math
Unit 1: Sums and Differences to 10
Unit 1: Sums and Differences to 10
In this annotated matrix assignment, I was able to analyze Eureka Math, created by Great Minds. Through this analysis, I was able to see that Eureka is an effective curriculum that provides exposure of rigor, coherence, and sequential knowledge. The curriculum is directly aligned with state standards and ensures students are gaining conceptual understanding. I would also like to note that I found Eureka focuses greatly on the "why" behind what students are learning. Eureka intends for problems to be relatable and connected with real-life experiences that enable students to gain a deeper understanding and enjoyment for math.

In this research based review over Eureka Math, I was able to analyze the curriculum and relate Eureka Math to the Constructivism Theory. Eureka Math enables students to deepen their understanding through gradual steps that extend off of students' prior knowledge. Students are able to deepen their understanding through the different aspects Eureka Math consists of such as social interactions, building on prior knowledge, coherent sequencing, and conceptual understanding.
In this assignment, I analyzed two professional organizations that relate to the curriculum I chose. I was able to see the mission of each organization and how they relate and advocate for quality instruction for each and every student.
