ACE Mentor Program

Are you interested in Architecture, Construction or Engineering?  ACE Mentors is a free after-school program which pairs high school students with professional mentors from the building industry.  We are committed to having a virtual ACE program for the 2020-2021 school year.  During your Zoom meetings – we are anticipating three 6-8 week blocks of weekly 90-minute sessions – you will participate with other students and your mentors in activities ranging from virtual construction site visits to actually designing a unique building project. 

The program runs from the beginning of November through May and is open to students in grades 9-12.  At the end of the year, your team will have the opportunity to present their project to other teams, mentors, professionals, and parents. 

Seniors in the program are also eligible to apply for scholarships.  Last year 14 students received a total of $100,000 in scholarships in the ACE Washington chapter.

King County Airport Internship

The Airport’s Internship Program is for students 14+ who are interested in learning about office administration and Airport operations. The intern will support the Program and Projects Administrator and other KCIA/Boeing Field sections with event planning and data management. The intern will be responsible for tracking attendance briefings, data visualization, and event planning to support KCIA in the implementation of programs as needed. The intern will play a key role in processing documentation and contributing to the development of evaluation frameworks for programs and projects at the Airport. The internship is intended to build the intern's business administration skills. The intern will receive direct supervision and mentorship and will have the opportunity to become engaged in programs and projects of relevance to the Airport.

NorthWest Youth Corps Conservation Internship

The Conservation Internship Program is designed to provide hands on training and experience to those interested in pursuing employment with land and water resource management agencies, and other outdoor careers. The program is a cooperative effort designed to address community, environmental, and resource management projects.  Through this program, public agencies and community organizations host a Conservation Intern to directly address pressing community resource needs for a three to ten month period.  Northwest Youth Corps supports the partnership by supplying placement, administrative, and training support.

Union Summer Internship

Are you interested in working for social change?

Union Summer is the paid ($16/hour) summer internship program for people interested in getting involved in the labor movement. Organized through the Washington State Labor Council AFL-CIO, Union Summer participants will spend an exciting six weeks working full-time and hands-on with different campaigns — talking to our community, marching for justice, and gaining first-hand experience in the movement. Port of Seattle Summer Internship 

The Port of Seattle is hiring 80 high school interns this summer to work in jobs across all lines of business. Interns will gain experience working in professional office settings, participate in business and leadership skills training, talk with a mentor about future career goals, complete a cohort project, and attend a career and education fair.

Who: High School students 16 years old or older or recently graduated students (within 12 months)

Hours: Work hours are generally Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm. Work between 20 and 40 hours per week. Schedule is flexible and agreed upon between the selected candidate and their supervisor.

Location: Port of Seattle-Work environment depends on the internship, but work is generally performed in an office settings. Some internships also work outdoors at facilities and parks or in maintenance shops.
