Earn a National Vocational Qualification
The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is the national policy for regulated qualifications in Australian education and training. It incorporates the qualifications from each education and training sector into a single comprehensive national qualifications framework. The AQF was first introduced in 1995 to underpin the national system of qualifications in Australia encompassing higher education, vocational education and training and schools. The AQF provides the standards for Australian Qualifications.
Nationally recognised VET qualifications can range from Certificate I to Advanced Diploma and include Graduate Diplomas and Graduate Certificates that have been accredited by a VET accrediting authority. The accrediting authorities are:
The NSSC endorses training package qualifications and provides advice to Ministers on national standards for regulation of VET in Australia.
ASQA is the National Regulator for Australia’s VET sector.
At the completion of the Higher School Certificate (HSC) a student studying a Vocational Education & Training (VET) course will receive HSC credentials plus either:
- An AQF VET Certificate if they have successfully completed all requirements of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) VETCertificate.
- A VET Statement of Attainment for those students who partially complete all requirements of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) VETCertificate.
