Employability Skills

Training in a vocational course develops key skills identified as desirable in the work place. A student attaining these skills will gain a broad understanding of their importance in the workplace and will be more employable and confident. Each of these skills, once attained are applicable and transferrable across a range of vocations. Employers place significant importance on identifying those with the skills set.

- communication

- teamwork

- problem solving

- initiative and enterprise

- planning and organising

- self-management

- learning

- technology.

Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), who deliver vocational courses are required to ‘unpack’ and analyse each unit of competency to develop learning and assessment strategies that include the application of Employability Skills. This includes implementing learning and assessment strategies that will meet the needs of learners and reflect industry and enterprise requirements. This will ensure learners who gain competency are ‘job ready’.
