This unit has been developed to give students an experience of various responses to the concept of ‘war’. A variety of poetry by Siegfried Sassoon and Rupert Brooke are set for study and discussion. Through analysis these poems, the students will gain an understanding of responses to war and how composers have created meaning. Students are developing skills in identifying, describing and analysing how ideas are represented in texts and evaluating how these ideas and language features together impact on an audience.
