The different pedagogical modes actually sit within a matrix that incorporates elements of both collaborative and self-directed learning practices. How teachers configure the pedagogical modes can be informed by Thornburg's Primordial Spaces. Situating the pedagogical modes on this matrix then allows teachers to map out their own pedagogical practice and implement strategies for moving students toward a more self directed paradigm.
