Objective: Students prepare for the modern business office workplace as well as introductory computer task by learning essential Microsoft Office application and business communication.
Objective: Students will prepare for the modern workplace by learning office skills, including typing, filing, and Microsoft Office products while improving English language and literacy skills. IET

Course Description: This course will provide the student a working knowledge of office procedures, Microsoft Office 365 skills, keyboarding, record management and business communication. All skills required for a successful job in a business office environment.
Student will learn to:
Be an effective communicator both written and orally
Pass clerical exams for government jobs
Use Microsoft Office 365/2019 application
Type at a minimum of 30 nwpm
Create business letters and memos
Create financial reports
Conduct payroll
File both manual and electronically
Workplace Readiness Skills
Language and Literacy (L&L)
Language and Literacy support is a component of your course. This part of your course covers reading, writing, listening, and speaking as it relates to your lesson. You will meet with an IET teacher to cover these components for your weekly lesson. These programs are designed to teach the academic skills necessary for success and to help students become more productive community members. The Language and Literacy program is designed to help students develop job readiness skills, find employment, advance on the job, or enter adult secondary education classes.
Vocational Adult Basic Education (VABE)
Math Literacy support is a component of your course. This part of your course covers improving students basic skills in language arts and mathematics. understanding of math concepts, calculations as it relates to your lesson. You will meet with an IET teacher to cover these components for your weekly lesson. The VABE program is designed to help students develop job readiness skills, find employment, advance on the job, or enter adult secondary education classes.

2. MindTap: Our learning environment for reading, assignments, and exams. You will receive your MindTap login on day 2. You have work in 2 separate MindTap courses; Administrative Professional and Computer Applications.

Methods of Instruction:
This is an online course using Microsoft TEAMS. Structured as both video and/or live meetings, online, MindTap, and self-paced. TEAM meeting allows students to learn in a group with visual aids and teacher. MindTap allows student to work online. MindTap includes an e-book, activities, simulation labs, and assessments. The materials and learning tools utilized in this course include textbook readings, in unit and end of unit exercises and exams, simulation jobs, and final project. Live online sessions required 2 x weekly with option for 1x1 assistance during instructor office hours.

Assignments & Evaluation: Student must complete all the required assignments listed on the pacing guide. Students should concentrate on understanding and mastering the performance objectives of each chapter. Students must complete and pass all assessments required at the end of each chapter using MindTap and/or pdf assessment. Students must complete and pass all assessments, final project, and portfolio at completion of all coursework. A passing score of 80% or higher is require for each assessment. Students must also take and attempt to pass the industry skills certification exam.
The Office Simulation: A two-part workplace simulations are complete with company descriptions, instructions, documents, and other materials. These simulations provide activities in a realistic work situation. They will reinforce the skills and knowledge you learned from the MindTap text.
Certificates: Students will receive a certificate/s upon completion of course.
· Certificate of Completion will be issued by instructor upon completion of all required hours, coursework, and assessments.
