Students going into the 8th grade will select their classes during their 7th Grade World Cultures class in late January/ early February. We will provide a presentation to all 7th grade students. The presentation reviews academic expectations, selecting classes, and college preparation. In addition, we develop a 6-year plan with students that guides students in planning their education from 7-12th grade and beyond. The plan prepares students for high school graduation, college admissions and career preparation.
All current 7th grade students need to complete the 8th grade course selection form to chose their class for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
For priority, please submit this form by February 18, 2026
Students who do not complete a form will have their classes selected for them. Students have an opportunity to select the following:
Elective Class: Students have 1 elective. Please indicate your #1 choice with 4 alternate choices
Math placement: Students need to select between Math 8 or Integrated Math I (first year of high school math).
Dual Immersion: For students who are fluent (reading, writing, speaking) in Spanish.
Eastlake Middle School offers a good variety of elective courses. Most students will take 1 elective course or may be placed in a support class such as Study Skills or Avid Excel. At Eastlake Middle School we do our best to place students in the first or second choice elective. Students will be in the elective class for the entire school year. We do allow students to change their elective during the first 2 weeks of school based on space availability. Please CLICK HERE for the elective descriptions which will review any requirements and an overview of what students will learn.
The 6 year academic plan slideshow is presented to 7th grade students through their world cultures class. The information prepares student to select classes in 8th grade and begin thinking about high school and beyond. We teach students how to read a transcript, what is a GPA, how to monitor their credits, A-G requirements, and more.
