While each local landowner may have their own set of resource concerns, here are those that are top of mind within the Caldwell-Travis district.
Feral Hogs
According to the Central Texas Feral Hog Task Force, invasive feral swine (Sus scrofa) create extensive ecological and economic damage in our region, with Texas being home to an "estimated 2.6 million feral hogs with an impact that may exceed $500 million annually".
The Task Force with a mission "to monitor and reduce the economic and biological impact of feral hogs to the land, water and wildlife species of Central Texas" offers educational events as well as a bounty program (subject to funding).
As shown in the Lockhart State Park photos, the significant damage caused by feral hogs cannot be missed.
