At Sumiton Christian School, academics are grounded in a Christ-centered philosophy, where spiritual growth and academic excellence go hand in hand. From Preschool through High School, students are taught in a nurturing, faith-based environment that emphasizes biblical values, rigorous academics, and a commitment to service. Our academic programs are designed to help students grow mentally, physically, and spiritually, while discovering their God-given purpose.
Beginning in Preschool (K2–K4), students are introduced to foundational academic skills through the Abeka curriculum, with a focus on language arts, fine arts, physical education, and Bible application. Early learning is enriched with hands-on experiences and field trips that spark curiosity and joy in learning.
In Elementary School, students build on these foundations with deeper instruction in reading, math, science, writing, and Bible, taught through a biblical lens. Hands-on science labs, history projects, and field trips to places like the Space & Rocket Center enhance classroom learning. Character development and service are also emphasized as students begin participating in school and community outreach.
Middle School (6th–8th grades) challenges students to think critically and communicate effectively through literature, history, science, and writing. Students explore Earth and Life Sciences, develop computer and programming skills, and begin preparing for college entrance exams. Curriculum is drawn from Christian-based resources, including Bob Jones University Press.
High School students engage in a comprehensive, college-preparatory curriculum that integrates faith into every subject. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning while being supported by assessments, tutoring, and enrichment opportunities. With a focus on excellence, leadership, and service, graduates are prepared to meet academic and life challenges with confidence, purpose, and a commitment to Christ.
