CAD (Computer Aided Design) @ SHS: ** Class site: Sturgis High School. Prerequisites: Drafting if available. Mechanical aptitude. Algebra & Geometry skills (minimum of 4 semesters) Meets Visual, Performing and Applied Arts requirements** Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is a program in which students learn designing skills using Auto CAD and Solidworks to solve detailed engineering drawing problems. This course is geared toward students interested in becoming an industrial designer, architect, or engineer. Students work on projects related to machine tool design, jig and fixture design, assembly drawings, and other in-depth applications of the CAD system, and “print” projects to the 3-D printer. Solidworks certifications are available. Dual-enrollment credit is available through Glen Oaks Community College.
