The goal of the 4As windows collaboration was to analyze and comprehend the research articles and videos to form a better understanding of literacy and why you should read. After looking at the research, we all had to write four comments, one for each category (Agree, Assume, Argue, & Act). This was helpful because it allowed us to engage with the research and come up with our thoughts and opinions on it. The windows collaboration allowed me to explore my peers' ideas and thoughts on the research to use and compare to my personal research notes. I learned from my research and theirs that reading has generous benefits and can be greatly effective.
For this activity, me and my class went on a Field trip to Knightdale elementary school where we got to read and interact with the different grade classes. I was assigned and got to read to the lovely 3rd graders in Ms. Watkin's classroom. I couldn't start the activity right away, so I got to talk to the students beforehand while they were doing their morning work. Introduced myself to each table and got to know some of the students. When the students were gathered to read, they were all listening and attentive, and as I asked questions they were eager to provide me with their answers. One thing I'm most proud of was being able to complete all the activities and being able to create a fun and interactive atmosphere among the students that by the time I left I could tell they enjoyed their time with me, and possibly loved books and reading a little more than before. We also went for a tour at East Regional, where I got a replacement library card and checked two books, one of which I've read and another that was on my TBR.
