For this assignment, we had to create a new design for the name badges we would wear in the library and to run deliveries. For my badge design I wanted to create something reminiscent of an actual office-type badge; something that wasn't boring, but inspired by my interest. Then it came to me, why don't I create a badge inspired by the badge designs used in the Star Labs (The Flash) or Stark Industries (Iron Man). I took a look at both designs and decided that the Star Labs design would be the most fun and functional badge to recreate for the Learning Commons. So that's what I did; instead of STAR being spelled out at the top, I did KHS LC and so on. I guess I did a good job designing the badge because we had to vote on the design we wanted to use and mine ended up winning.
For this assignment, I had to create a display for literacy month in the library. The display had to correlate with the genres I selected, which were Mystery and Thriller. For my display, I reused the tree from the BHM display and redecorated it. At first, I wanted to create something more reminiscent of a detective solving a case, but I figured making the tree look like a crime scene seemed to be more fitting. So to do that I created my own caution tape to place around the tree, then fingered painted the words “Mystery & Thrillers” onto the tree to give it a more haunting/creepy look then finally added some hand prints around the tree because i felt it fit the ambiance of the display.
