I look forward to my classes and hanging out with my friends this semester. I speak 3 languages fluently and I learnt German for 3 years. I have an art account that I post on very inconsistently. I have a dog and his name is Miles. I moved from India before my freshman year and have been here for 3 years now.
I chose oil paint because I really liked it when we did practice paintings. I've never done oil before so I thought it would be interesting to try it. I decided to make this piece because I did this concept using digital art and I thought it would be a cool idea to try using oil paint. I made the digital piece in honor of women's history month so the same idea translated over to this piece. I really like how the overall piece turned out, I think the lighting and the wings look good but I wish I made the face details more prominent. They are present when they are up close but when it's far away, it blends in together so I'd change that. Overall I think this piece was successful but could definitely be improved.
I made this artwork by asking my friends and family what their favorite flowers are. I decided to draw myself in a garden surrounded by them because as a kid I really enjoyed gardening with my grandma and I thought this would be a nice way to represent that memory. My character is holding my favorite flower, orchids and I tried leading the viewers eye from the focal point (my character) to the flower through lighting.
I made this artwork digitally using procreate. I started off by sketching the character and the composition, putting everything in place before going into line art. This was tricky because I needed to leave some areas blank because they would have details only rendering would capture. I then moved onto base colors, then rendering by adding shadows and lights. I then worked on highlights and final details.
Overall I really like how this piece turned out, if there is one thing I'd change it would probably be the medium because I feel like I didn't push myself enough. I do like how the overall composition is and I really like the colors I picked.
