Enlarged Print

The enlarged picture was taken on Holbrook Street while walking home between classes. I take this route everyday and never get tired of how it looks. It’s not special in particular or anything, but at specific time of the day, the sun will peak over the town hall building and highlight last night’s rain on the pavement. That backlighting makes for amazing silhouettes of the almost identical trees on the sides of the road. I really wanted to capture that time of day at that individual spot. In the image, I use slightly informal balance of the road and trees to get an angled perspective, as well as silhouettes and grouping within the trees themselves. In a lot of my photos, I use bare trees because each branch can come out really well when developing. The definition of the twigs and everything really brings the setting to life with detail. I got pretty lucky with the development of this roll. The main issue I came across was the developer going bad before I even started. So I made a new batch and tried again. And my test strips and final products turned out really well this way. If I could take that photo again, maybe I would try taking it in the center of the road, to get a formal balance shot, but I kinda like how the informal balance framed the photo.
