Scratchboard

I’m calling this project, Portrait because it’s a portrait of my friend Alex. The subject is a Portrait based off an Image. I chose to create this specific work because I was inspired and thought it would be cool. For materials, I used Scratchboard and scratching tools. I used a variety of techniques and methods including: Scratching. While creating this work, I paid close attention to Value by scratching layers off. I wanted my artwork to look unique and I did that by using my own photo. To add interest to my composition, I used contrast by making the image black and white. I like the way it came out and I am proud of the details put into it. However, I struggled with the light gray values. If I created another work like this I may spend lots more time on it. My work shows that I learned how to effectively use scratchboard.
