This artwork was made for the Pet Portrait Challenge, on BLICK. For this challenge you submit a portrait of your pet in any medium. There are five random winners selected to win a $500+ prize package of Painting Pastels. 

For my artwork, I decided to use one of my dogs. I also chose to do it digitally, to both challenge myself and also maintain practice with digital art. It took me about six hours, spread over several days. I used a reference image of my dog for the starting point of this piece. I tried to make this an abstract piece which had separated colors. I did not blend, but made a fluent piece with many spots of different colors which makes it look blended in the end. To me, I would be very happy if I won, but I do not expect to. I think that this challenge served as practice for me, and practice is the only thing that helps you progress forward in your art journey throughout your entire lifetime.
