UNIT OVERVIEW - Pure Contour Exploration

In this unit, we explored with using line thickness to show depth in our drawings. In this exploration, we weren't able to shade our drawings to show the light and dark aspects. It gave us a challenge, but also practice. Additionally, this unit gave us a small glimpse into design, as when making a design or blueprint for something you don't shade, but otherwise show the shading with simple lines. After this experience, I liked having a challenge but also practice. I think it helped me overcome my sketchy lines, and forced me to erase them eventually. It also gave me confidence in my drawings and sketches I create, because we had to make the lines darker and thicker for boldness and clarity. In Foundations of Art, I can easy visualize this unit as being very important for providing practice, a challange, an introductory unit, and the chance for personal expansion with confidence in your work.Â
