Sustained Investigation

I made this because I wanted to draw a realistic face with pen. I made him joyful because I wanted to find out how the human face shows different emotions and I started with happiness.

I used fine line pen on drawing paper.

I started by sketching out the face and then I outlined the features with pen. After I had finished that I started shading and crosshatching with pen.

I decided to make this face because I needed I second emotion to make and I chose sadness. I chose to use blue watercolor because the color blue is generally associated with sadness.

I used fine line ink pen and watercolor paint on watercolor paper for this piece.

I started out by sketching the face and outlining the features with ink pen. I then used the pen to shade the face and add detail. After I finished the face I used watercolor to add color to the background.

I decided to make this piece because I had one emotion left and I chose anger because I thought it would be fun and interesting.

I started by sketching out the face with pencil and instead of starting by outlining the features with pen I went right into the shading but instead of crosshatching I used scribbles. After I had finished adding detail and shading the face I then used a thicker pen to make my background of more scribbles.
