Q. Some students don’t know what an Assistant Principal does day-to-day. What does your schedule look like?
Ms. Goihl: “Varies from day-to-day. But, um, the most common things I do in a day is supervision in the hallways before and after school, sometimes during lunch, um, passing time. I do a lot of observing of teachers and giving them feedback. Each of our administrators are in charge of a different group of teachers. And, also, student discipline where I talk to students about attendance, or about behaviors in the classroom, or cellphones.”
Q. What advice would you give students to succeed in high school?
Ms. Goihl: “I think the most important thing students need to do is really have a curiosity for what they’re learning even if they’re not interested in what they’re learning because that curiosity can then spark some, um, motivation to do better, to learn more, to study deeper and really get into what they’re learning to get the best out of every class.”

Q. What has been your favorite moment of working at the River Falls high school?
Ms. Goihl: “I don't know if I have one favorite. I think favorite moments are usually when I can help a student overcome something they’ve been struggling with. Whether that’s an attendance issue or maybe a connection with a teacher that's not there, or maybe even some peer adversity. Being able to just help students not only get through what they’re dealing with, but also have the tools to maybe get through it the next time on their own is really something that–really one of the reasons I’m here.”
Q. I heard you were moving to a new position. What is it that you will be doing?
Ms. Goihl: “So, I'm retiring from this position. I have–I'm at the right age and right numbers of years of experience here. I'm gonna go back to teaching English, which is what I did for twenty-six years before getting this job seven years ago. I'm gonna go back to teach at a private boarding school.”
Q. What will you miss most about River Falls High School?
Ms. Goihl: “I will miss the people. I will miss the students and the staff, for sure.”
Q. Lastly, what’s one piece of advice you’d leave us with?
Ms. Goihl: “I think the best piece of advice is to follow your heart, to do what you love, and to just love the people in your life”
