Article: Wear or Tear?
Writers: Nayleen Vue and Kylieauna Eckdahl
When Halloween comes around, no crazy costume is off-limits to Victoria Secret model Heidi Klum. Armed with an abundance of money and even more latex, her costumes, ranging from a worm to a werewolf, make for an eye-catching topic. See what your teachers and fellow students think about her fun costumes. Wear or tear?
In 2009, Heidi Klum wore a particularly edgy crow costume to her 10th annual Halloween party. Klum said in a news interview that beak and wings made it hard to move, eat, or drink.
10th grade Rose Smith :
“Oh my gosh?! Okay…I feel like there's a lot going on. How high are those heels? It would be really hard to trick or treat in. The face paint, the gloves, and the feathers look awfully uncomfy. I would have to say tear because it looks very uncomfortable and there's too much going on for me.”
Mr. Jaeckel Band Director:
Uhh.. personally…that exact costume? I don't think I could pull it off so I would have to tear that one. If I HAD to wear it though, I think I could persevere through having a hard time eating, moving, and -
drinking, I’m sure I could pull through!
An homage to Michael Jackson's “Thriller” music video, Klum wore this outfit for her 2017 Halloween party. This costume took her a grand total of seven hours to apply.
Mr Haskins Science teacher
“It's a lot. At first, I thought it was scary but it isn't really. I can't tell if those are ears or horns. I'm conflicted. I'm gonna go with tear I would not, I would not." I would like to state that Haskins had a petrified look on his face that is beyond words.
9th grade Guthrie Hill
“Wear! I would definitely wear this because it’s cool and I can do the Micheal Jackson “Hehe”. This is a good costume to scare little kids in. This isn’t scary to me at all. I think if I wore this I would win some type of costume award!”
A particularly artistic rendition of a peacock she wore to her 2023 annual Halloween party. Her husband, Tom Kaulitz is dressed up as an egg along with her (couple goals?). Klum's costume took six hours, and yet again made doing basic things very difficult.
Mrs Peters fashion and design teacher
“Oh that's something! Which costume am I commenting on? Life’s too short. I'd wear both. That's just me though, I don't really care what others think. Is there a face in the egg? The egg looks uncomfortable, is he in a wheelchair? I'm gonna say wear, for both.”
11th grade Colin Peterson
“Lowkey, the egg is kind of tough! I would wear it because I think the egg is cool. If I had to choose who would be the peacock it would probably be my friend. But you could also go solo, going as just the egg you could be like Humpty Dumpty. I definitely would go trick or treating in the egg suit and then maybe a cool Halloween party after.”
Even if you wear costumes during Halloween or not, you can’t deny that Heidi has a unique mindset about costumes that makes you wonder how she even thought of that! These students and teachers shared their thoughts about just SOME of Heidi’s Halloween looks. Heidi Klum has over a decade's worth of fun and exotic Halloween costumes, search it up on your own and see if you would wear or tear.
