Step 2 Update

classification scheme

Content: For step 2 of our Capstone Design, we were tasked with generating alternative designs and making a classification scheme. We generated a variety of alternative concepts and stitched various possibilities together to make the best possible design. The various elements we modified were the shape of our dispenser, the amount of soap dispensed, the sensor used to trigger the soap, and the material of our design. Our first design dispensed 0.8ml of soap and had a rounded rectangle shape, infrared sensor, and stainless steel housing. Our second design dispensed 1ml of soap and had a circular shape, ultrasonic sensor, and aluminum housing. Our third design dispensed 0.9ml of soap and had a triangular shape, proximity sensor, and iron housing.

Reflection: Overall I contributed heavily to our project. Primarily my work ethic was demonstrated, I completed a majority of the work throughout the project. Secondly, I did a great job of employing my out-of-the-box thinking by generating alternative concept designs and sub-functions. However, while I excelled in these areas I struggled with communicating with my team. Moreover, our time management was lacking as we were a little behind schedule.
