Murder Mystery

Forensic Project

Summary: Carlton Comet, a sophomore at San Marin high school, was murdered on January, 11 2020 on Chalk Hill. Our suspect list included, Sam Sophomore Nancy Normal, Theresa Terra, Fred Flimmer and Glen Gee. Our goal was to figure out who murdered Carlton by extracting different types of forensic evidence. The evidence we collected included DNA, Karyotypes, Pedigrees, Physical Evidence, Fingerprinting and Blood-typing. Through our various extraction processes we found that the finger print belonged to Nancy Normal, the pen belonged to Sam Sophomore or Nancy Normal, the blood type matched Nancy Normal or Glen Gee ,and finally that the DNA matched Nancy Normal. After looking through all of the evidence we decided that the murderer was likely Nancy Normal and after looking thought the pedigree we believed that her motive was to attempt to win over Fred Flimmers love by murdering the man who killed his sister.

Reflection: Overall In the project I felt I had a good overall contribution. One of my strengths during the project was my work ethic getting all of my work done and then some. Something else I felt I did good on was my collaborative and critical thinking to who the murder was when analyzing the evidence. However my strengths did not come without faults as I felt I lacked in two key areas. The first was my overall presence in the group throughout the day. While when I was present I gave many good ideas I would often get sidetracked and leave to talk to another group limiting my potential. Another pitfall of the project for me was my time management as while I always completed the work and more it would be at the last minute sometimes delaying my group.
