Homeostasis Poster

Summary: For our homeostasis experiment our group decided to investigate how the body maintains homeostasis by breathing. To get our results we had each of our test subjects record their resting breaths per minute and then recorded it after a 100m dash and a 400m run. We had them do 2 trials of each to get a large enough sample size to show consistent results. Our data showed that generally the body maintained homeostasis after activity by breathing more times per minute to get more oxygen to the lungs.

Concepts In Our Experiment:

Homeostasis: the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes.

BPM: Breaths Per Minute

RR: Respiratory Rate

Reflection: In our experiment one area that I performed well in was the data collection phase as I kept the stopwatch and then recorded the breaths per minute. I also did very well in my managing of the tasks being performed to make sure we were staying on task. A regard that I felt I lacked in however was my cooperation in the poster, as while I did my part I could have put more effort into it and helped other with theirs. Another that I felt I didn't meet up to the standard was that I didn't run to record more data. This could have helped fix the outlier we had and have shown a much more complete data set.
