Me and two other kids were asked to solve a world problem, we were able to chose what ever we want. The world problem we choose was toilet comfort. We decided we would have a heated seat with arm rests. we surveyed people around the classroom top ask if they have ever used a heated toilet, then we asked them if they feel like modern day toilets are comfortable. Most people have not used a heated toilet and around half of the people are okay with their toilet comfort.
Next we put a little blue print together in our notebooks and looked at how much this would cost. once determined the look we designed a toilet on a 3d Design website on our chrome books. Once done we put it in a 3d printer and printed it.
I did very well with my time management this time on the project. We finished with a few days to look over everything. Another thing I need to work on is communicating with my team.
How I used the engineer design cycle
ASK: ¨how can you solve a world problem¨
RESEARCH: we looked up prices and styles of toilets.
IMAGINE: we found the perfect set up for a toilet
PLAN: We made a GANT chart for the rest the time in our project
CREATE: we made a model in a 3d printer
TEST: we looked at it when printed and realized the arm rests would not work
IMPROVE: we designed it better
