Kelp Mini Poster

In this unit we learned about different kinds of kelp, how they grow, and how the reproduce. Kelp is known as an algae and more specifically it is brown algae. They can reproduce sexually and asexually. Kelp can grown up to 100feet long with gaining a few inches every week. The strucutre of kelp is very basic. The holdfast is at the bottom which holds the plant to a rock or the bottom of the ocean like a root. The stipe is the main body of the kelp, blades are wha tyou call the leaf like parts of the plants and the little balls on the sides are full of gasses which make the kelp float up towards the surface.
