This project has been very interesting as I have had to work on multiple parts of the project that my other team members were focusing on. I got to work a bit on everything and help the group finish with their roles. When starting on this project we were assigned different things we could do. It was on a sheet that had multiple ways of working on the assignment.
For the first part of the project I had worked with my teammate Tia who I helped to create an infographic. This infographic shows the ideas of radioactive decay, fission, fusion and inside of an atom
The second part of our project was a our comic that was created by Emma which is about the Sun's life.
This part of the project was where we created chemical equations, and included things such as : Alpha decay, beta decay, gamma decay, fission, and fusion
Fusion - Reaction of two or more atomic nuclei to combine into one or more different atomic nuclei / subatomic particles. This is also shown in our infographic.
Fission - Reaction in the nucleus of an atom is split into two smaller nuclei. Large amounts of energy are released during this reaction. This is also shown in our infographic.
Radioactive Decay - A process in which an unstable atomic nucleus loses energy through radiation. The types of radioactive decay are alpha, beta, and gamma decay. This is also shown in our infographic.
Alpha Decay- A type of radioactive decay where an atomic nucleus emits an alpha particle and decays into a different atomic nucleus. Through this process, the mass number is reduced by four and the atomic number is reduced by two. Equations of this process are located in our equations sheet.
Beta Decay- This occurs when one proton or neutron is transformed into another from a nucleus with too many subatomic particles. A beta particle - a fast energetic electron or positron - is emitted from the nucleus and unstable atoms obtain a more stable ratio of protons to neutrons. Equations of this process are located in our equations sheet.
Gamma Decay- When a nucleus changes from a higher energy state to a lower energy state through the emission of a gamma-ray photon. The number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus does not change in this process. Equations of this process are located in our equations sheet.
Need Improvement :
Conscientious learner : I think I could have organized my time a little bit more but I was able to do a lot of work. Manage time more efficiently.
Critical thinking : It took me some time to understand some concepts. Although I eventually understood them. I could organize my key ideas better, by using a planner.
Excelled :
Communication : I felt like I communicated very well since I was able to help different people in my group effortlessly.
Character : I was able to take multiple responsibilities for the group since I had to go around adding work to the allotted group work, I find that I succeed at doing multiple different types of work as it makes things easier to focus on the goal.
