This project required my group and I to solve a current issue that struggles the world. The choice was to solve water shortage in areas of need

Process

The first essential idea to start the project was an idea I thought of, and we really just modified it from there. We ended up with a rainwater purifier. The first part to this is that when we would get to the Sub-Saharan African village we would inform them of how they are contracting these deadly parasitic diseases from the water. Then we would construct a 50 foot tall structure we made it this tall so structures could be built underneath for shade since there would be an acre of tarp above. The Tarp would collect rainwater and funnel it into a pipe, we chose to collect rainwater like this because it was the most efficient. Rainwater is the purest form of water as well and requires the least amount of cleansing. Also cannot transmit any diseases, if boiled. After the water is collected in the pipe it is sent into a boiler. After boiling that water will gather contiguously in the water storage. In Sub-Saharan Africa there is an 8 month period of rain, so that water storage needs to at least 4 months of storage. This would help millions of people dying and challenged by the issues of unclean water.

1. IDENTIFY NEED - The need for this project was to create a realistic and viable solution to get more water for drought areas with many water issues, which we did
2. RESEARCH PROBLEM - We researched the issue using government websites which were guaranteed and provided the best available info about the issue
3. DEVELOP SOLUTIONS - WE thought of some solutions to the issue which seemed realistic. And also Incorporated necessities to humans to live a significantly more comfortable life
4. SELECT SOLUTION - We selected the most efficient and realistic choice because it added more of an urgency to this issue in which is most needed to be dealt with
5. CONSTRUCT PROTOTYPE🔧 - We engineered a funnel structure to collect water in model size. This provides a baseline in which our model can help people view the full picture and be advised on how to go about this solution
6. TEST SOLUTION - Our model could´t run through the purifying process but was just to really show what the real one could look like it. The structure would appear much as our model involving a larger scale and actually providing the purification of the rain water which is the goal for this projects purpose
7. COMMUNICATE - In the end we shared our solution to the class with a presentation. This presentation provided a layout of our process to reach out to the rural villages in Africa, to provide information about the harm of dirty water and their health
8. REDESIGN REPEAT - We didn't particularly use this due to having minimal time on multiple designs, instead we involved whatever was necessary and kept the design simple to allow for a smoother construction process and takes away all the confusion in advanced design process to allow for easier fixes and operation for this structures purpose

Refection

This project was very helpful in challenging me to think of something that could help people in the future. Researching my project, and listening to others, I learned hardships that challenge our world. I developed a sense of Competence, learning about other parts of the world. For example, our group focused in on people in African villages faced with these harsh issue, which also made me a conscientious learner .I developed Character by seeing more in depth what other people in the world are going through, and trying to develop a plausible solution. Finally, something I can improve on is Collaboration. I could be more direct and get work done quicker. I think I could lead a bit better which is something i´m good at just need some experience with it
