In this project, we were assigned to design pieces of fruniture to then place in a specific area. Together in a team consisting of me, Rio, and Harrison, we decided to make some beach chairs. On the left you can see our drawing and blueprints for this idea. We came to this idea because all of us agreed relaxing on a beach chair is something we would all enjoy doing, whether it is by the pool or just on the grass in the sun. The design process was quite simple, the basic designs for it were the same as an beach chair that you would see, however the dimensions and how everything would go together is something we had to think about, as well as materials and balance. Overall it was a fun group project to do, and I enjoyed doing it.

We learned about the process of blueprinting and charting/mapping ideas. With this, we had to learn about how to do research for any given design that we had, and whether or not it would work. We went through the process of creating many different designs so that we could find the one that we thought would be most suitable for the task or objective we were trying to solve. We learned about drawing the best and most informing drawings without overly complicating the scene/blueprint, and we learned a little bit about exterior design when we were looking at cool ways to place items around an open grass area.
This blueprint showcases the general dimensions of our beach chair, as well as the connections used. The four connections we used were a right angle connection, a "T" connection, an albow connection and a corner piece connection.
This blueprint shows the layout of where we would place our beach chairs. Our idea was the place them beside the grassy patch next to the makerspace. This would be the perfect place in terms of oriention and accessibility.
This budget list shows the matierials and costs needed in order to built any amount of chairs. Focus on the fabric, we chose this specific nylon material due to its durability, and weather resistant properties. In total, we had a cost of $200.60 dollors for four chairs.
I was a helpful contribution during this project, whether that be coming up with ideas for blueprints, or research materials and prices. I excelled in communicating with my peers, bouncing back ideas for our furniture. Additionally, I troubleshooted and questioned the integrity and logistics of our furniture, putting my critical thinking skills to use.
Although I was able to work on and complete the project, I struggled with concentration and time management. Often I would wander around and get distracted, and fail to complete the task in fornt of me. In the future, I will try to manage my time more effectively, and not let my mind wander when doing a task.
