This poem is one of my assignments in this class, and it reflects my background, values, and journey as I grow into an educator. It shares where I come from, what has shaped me, and how those experiences continue to guide me as I work toward teaching with care, equity, and purpose.

Charter School in the U.S.
In American public education, charter schools shine as innovative, autonomous public options fostering creativity, accountability, and tailored learning for diverse students. As an aspiring middle school science teacher pursuing my credential, I chose this topic for its alignment with the themes of equity and flexibility in my autoethnographic reflections. This presentation covers their history, structure, benefits, such as specialized curricula, challenges, such as funding, and their nationwide impact on student outcomes.
Autoethnography: Weaving Identity into Education
Journey with me through my life as a middle-class Filipino woman, only child of public servants, shaped by political legacy, cultural traditions like bayanihan and Simbang Gabi, and resilient gender roles beyond Maria Clara. From elopement tales and a grandfather's survival to blending Filipino hospitality with Persian customs in the U.S., my path, from medicine dreams to motherhood at 40 and now pursuing teaching at 53, reveals how faith, humility, and diversity fuel my commitment to inclusive science classrooms. Explore these reflections on identity, adversity, and growth that guide me in empowering every student.
