Sample presentations and UbD
Technique: "ALL HANDS"
This presentation introduces our TLC pacing plan using the “All Hands” technique, a collaborative strategy designed to engage all students in the learning process actively. It highlights how we structure instruction to promote participation, build understanding, and ensure every student has an opportunity to contribute and remain engaged throughout the lesson.
UbD Unit: Cell
Curriculum Area: Science
Grade Level: 6th grade
Time Frame: 4 weeks
This UbD unit on cells for 6th-grade science was my first experience designing instruction using the Understanding by Design framework. At first, I found the concept of hierarchical questions confusing and approached the unit with a narrow perspective. However, after receiving feedback from my professor, I began to see the framework more clearly and think about the content in a broader, more meaningful way. This process helped me grow as an educator, and I genuinely felt that I was learning and improving my practice through reflection and revision.
Value of an Educator
This presentation focuses on self-care and includes a Pear Deck activity to encourage classmates to participate and stay engaged. Teaching is rewarding, but it can also be demanding, so self-care is essential for staying balanced, energized, and ready to give our best to students. By using an interactive digital presentation, I hope to make the learning experience more engaging, collaborative, and meaningful in the classroom.
