As the end of the 2024-2025 school year is approaching, many students are wondering what next year is going to look like with the newly passed cell phone ban in New York State. Schools all around the state, K-12, including BOCES programs, are implementing a new “bell-to-bell” ban on phones passed by Governor Kathy Hochul. This means from the first bell to the last bell, all phones, smart watches, tablets, and other similar devices are not allowed to be used during the whole day, including lunches and study halls.
As the school year picks up speed, tests, quizzes, and projects are starting to pile up. If you’re feeling the pressure, you’re not alone. But with the right study strategies, you can stay ahead and maybe even enjoy the process (at least a little). Here are some tried-and-true study tips to help you make the most of your time.

Suzanne Collins has recently come up with another book telling us the story of Haymitch Abernathy in the 50th Hunger Games. I had high hopes for this book, as I had read all four books in the series before this. However, I found myself disappointed with the depth that this book went into. While the book had potential, particularly with Haymitch as the lead, its rushed ending and lack of emotional follow-through made it feel incomplete.
When I first heard that Dear Evan Hansen was being made into a movie, I was really excited but also a little nervous. The Broadway musical is one of my favorites because it honestly deals with mental health, loneliness, and trying to fit in. After watching the movie, I understand why some people had mixed feelings, but personally, I thought it was really moving and definitely underrated.
