Take Aim at Clarence High School Rifle Club

If you’re interested in trying something new, and maybe even something athletic, you should try rifle club! The rifle club meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 pm in the rifle range, next to the library. The rifle club focuses on three main principles: safety, sportsmanship, and skill.
Considering that students are being trusted with air rifles, safety is a priority. The club focuses on making sure that you show proper safety while holding and using the air rifle. This means not pointing the rifles at other people and knowing when it is safe to shoot. All students are required to have a signed permission slip from their parent or guardian, and sign that they promise to follow the safety rules.
Sportsmanship focuses on making sure that you don’t brag about your skill, because it is important to be thoughtful about how others may feel about their own skill.
Skill is the last and somewhat least important, because the main point of the rifle club is safety and fun. You do not need to have any skill or experience before joining the club. However, if you have enough skill, you can try out for the rifle team in the winter.
You can be picked up or take the late bus, whichever you prefer or fits best in your schedule. Either way, the rifle club is a great opportunity for high school students and is open to everyone! As a student who just joined this year, I am already gaining experience and making friends, so anyone can learn! The teacher in charge of the rifle club is Mr. Graf; if you have any questions, you can find him in room 510 or Schoology message him with any questions.
