Overview
Today, I'm gonna talked about the seminar with Dr. Nur 'Aliaa Abd Rahman who is a senior lecturer in department of Process and Food Engineering, UPM and Technical director at Proville Tech Sdn. Bhd. The speaker opened her talk by describing engineering entrepreneurship, which is the combination of business and technical management skills. The engineer is a wonderful entrepreneur for a variety of reasons. Engineers, for instance, have a technical aptitude, a strong mathematical mind, and other traits that make them potential, successful entrepreneurs.
Highlight
The speaker also discussed the fundamentals of becoming a successful entrepreneur, like understanding market trends, remaining adaptable, and understanding how to manage stress. According to another opinion, "due to the general nature of their work, engineers can be more flexible than people in other professions, which may make them more adaptable to switching focus and adjusting perspective when faced with challenges." This makes engineers good entrepreneurs. There are also real-life scenarios that develop the engineer entrepreneurs to be good at feasibility analysis, idea generation, developing business planning and lastly evaluate the financial and market analysis.
The speaker also shared a few courses, including engineering economics and integrated design projects, that would help in becoming a successful engineer entrepreneur (IDP). The student would enroll in either this course during their second or third year of study. The student who is passionate about entrepreneurs can therefore concentrate on this subject. People aren't exposed to engineer entrepreneurs for some reason, which makes them distrust the field's impact on global issues. Nevertheless, depending on the specific specialty business sector, this discipline is quite beneficial in giving solutions for concerns related to the economy, food security, health, and the environment.
Conclusion
Last but not least, I've learned that it's crucial to register branded creations with authorities or agents in order to protect the products' originality from copyright. I'll sum up by saying that engineering entrepreneurship was a unique profession that should be used in the entrepreneurial field because I could contribute with problem-solving and analysis of current global issues.
