Monday: Both Yohanna and Wynnie were absent.
Tuesday: No School
Wednesday: We met with Mr. Rojas to check in on the progress of our project. We all agreed that we needed to progress more and make sure that we were documenting said progress properly. This is part of the construct/test phase and even the evaluate solution phase of the design process. We are obviously still testing, but this meeting was evaluating our solution in a way.
Thursday: We looked at the video of the sensor we plan to build and figured out what else we needed to do to make that sensor come to life. We needed to order an Arduino Nano and a Load Cell Amplifier Module. We spoke with Mr. Rojas about ordering these and he helped us find versions of it where the wires were screwed in instead of soldered. This will help keep things easier to assemble. We also needed pieces of Plywood to build the bases for the sensor to rest on. We decided we wanted the top layer to be the same size as the block pad. We measured those dimensions on the plywood but ultimately ran out of time before we were able to cut the wood. This is part of the Construct/test phase of the design process, as we are still constructing the sensors and hope to begin testing once the rest of our materials come in.
This image shows our acryilic cut outs of our block base as well as some of the leftover plywood that we had after cutting our pieces.
This picture shows the two pieces that we had cut out for our sensor. The load cell will be mounted between these two pieces.
Friday: Today we were able to utalize the table saw and the miter saw to cut the plywood into the dimensions we needed. We used the table saw to cut down the longer line, and the miter saw to cut the shorter line. We also used the sanded to get the pieces to be the same size. This is also part of construct and test phase of the design process as we are still constructing the bases that the sensor will rest on.
Plan Moving Forward: Focusing on the technological aspect while still CNS the rest of our build.
