Genshin Impact is an open-world adventure game packed with lots of places, items, puzzles, music, collectibles, and characters to explore and experience. It is developed by a game development company, HoYoverse, which has a lot of experience in making RPGs (Role-playing games) such as Honkai Impact and Guns GirlZ. With this experience, they were able to make Genshin Impact into a popular online game with around 50 million people playing it as of the present.
Story
The story is rather different from other games where it shows us twin siblings fighting an unknown goddess at the beginning of the game. The player may pick and control one of these siblings, who is then transported into the world of Teyvat with the aim of being reunited with the other. Genshin Impact is unlike other games where they throw you into a world with no clear motives. Unlike the games where the guide leaves you after the tutorial, this game's guide named Paimon will accompany you throughout the journey.
Open World
Genshin Impact is an open world game which allows the players to explore the world without much restrictions. In the world of Teyvat, there are 7 regions, 3 of which are released as of now, with each of them having different landscape designs and cultures that are based on the real world. Genshin Impact offers a lot of wonders that the players will be able to find and experience while exploring the world of Teyvat. There are also teleport waypoints to make travelling from one place to another a whole lot easier. With little restrictions to exploring such a world, no other games can compete with Genshin Impact as of now since most games restrict the movements of the player.
Characters
The characters in Genshin Impact are unique. Every character has an element and a weapon. While you unlock all the characters you need through playing the story, additional ones will need to be unlocked through “Wishes''. Genshin Impact is also a gacha game and just like any other gacha game like FGO, Arknights, and Trinity Seven, there are characters or weapons that make the players life a whole lot easier just by getting them. This game is not that generous to beginners, offering them a total amount of 20 wishes to roll in a banner where they can either get a character or a weapon, but this game also has a pity system where after a certain amount of rolls, the game will guarantee the player a character or weapon of the highest star rating.
Mechanics
The player will learn a variety of skills and mechanics in order to efficiently roam Teyvat. These skills include controlling stamina, gliding, cooking, fishing, and more. These mechanics are quite similar to the Nintendo Switch game "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild'' where you are able to learn various skills to further explore the open world. Like Legend of Zelda, Genshin Impact provides chests that give loot to the players once they open it. The contents are random and the loot varies based on what kind of chest the player opens. The game also offers a lot of puzzles which are quite easy.
Tech Compatibility and Graphics
The graphics of Genshin Impact are really advanced and modern in terms of visuals, but this also adds up to its problem. The game graphics demand a lot of energy consumption from mobile devices making it hard for people to play for a long time. The game graphics could be adjusted in the settings to lower battery consumption, but this will lower the quality of the graphics. Furthermore, Genshin Impact eats up a lot of storage space (23.51 GB) and with each new update, it just keeps increasing. Some reports also claim that playing on low budget devices makes the game crash, making it harder for players to play the game without any disturbances.
Although the co-op mode of Genshin Impact wasn't really fun since I had to carry my friends and there are limited rewards you get for helping them, I still had fun playing this game for 1 year now. The grind was hell but the rewards were worth it. (If you're a masochist, I recommend playing this game). The story and the constant updates of this game always brings joy to my face even when my phone crashes. Unlocking new characters and weapons to upgrade always makes me feel alive and it encourages me to be better in this game. Even as a free-to-play player, I, currently, have around 15 five-star characters and weapons that I'm constantly upgrading. This just proves that Genshin Impact is free-to-play friendly. It also has events that are really interactive with the players unlike other games that I've played. I also enjoy the numerous lores that the game has to offer, some of which have a moral lesson. Genshin Impact is one of the games that I've enjoyed playing for a whole year. I recommend playing this game if you're a huge fan of anything related to adventure. I'd rate this game a 9/10.
