I stumbled into modelling thanks to a friend, and was invited to a test shoot. I got a number of jobs straight away and really enjoyed the process. Immediately it felt very natural and it taught me personal skills as I was always on a new set with a new group of people. At times I felt overwhelmed as I was out of my depth.
It was exhilarating going to different locations with professional models, photographers and clients. We even took a boat trip where I was filmed backflipping off h a high mast!! I admired the photographers and their ability to visualise an image before taking it. I can see the creativity in the post production, choice of shots, editing and colour correcting..... such talent.
I actually really enjoy the creative vision of modelling finding shots and brainstorming.
Thinking about what position looks natural to order is challenge. The photographer or director know what they are looking for and the better you get the easier you can deliver that look or pose.
As modelling is new for me I'm always open to any feedback as I want to be the best I can be.
Doing multiple campaigns and tests shoots has really allowed me to grow my skill and confidence. Looking at the photos from the previous shoot allows me to see my good and bad points and then implement that learning on the next shoot.
Trust is important when modelling as it can be quite a vulnerable environment. So I always try and create a safe space of trust.
There is always a large team on sets of photos shoots and it's important to understand how important everyone's role is and not build an imaginary hierarchy.
I always think about everyones perspective and treat everyone equally.
I always want to have a say in group decision making and be an active part of the team.
