"in action"
I grew up for most of childhood in rural Surrey, England, right up until I turned 16, when my family and I decided to move to Bali, Indonesia. This was one of the most exciting, scary and challenging moments for me up to that point. However, looking back on these last 2 years now I can see the trip has exceeded all my expectations and dreams. I had learnt so many lessons in England but Bali is where I really found myself. I developed a deep passion for surfing and have created a diverse and eclectic friendship group from all around the world, setting me up for the most interesting connections and travel in the future.
Through out my life I've constantly been a bundle of energy, constantly moving, and pushing myself to be the best I can be when it comes to movement. I am particularly inspired when this is in connection with some type of competition. One of my favourite forms of movement is parkour, as its a sport that has endless boundaries and I always push myself to try harder tricks. This "don't give up spirit" has evolved and developed through my sport and has such a positive effect on my day to day life . I feel it has made me who I am.
I have recently found a passion and love for the creative arts and this has really blossomed during my time at the Green School. I've worked in many mediums including sculpting, painting, working with cloths and natural dyes, plus sketching and even photography. I've loved going on little journeys with different pieces and expressed myself in ways that I'd never done before. I found many hidden abilities that I realized I had been pushing down, and it feels great to explore and realize them.
One of the best days of the year in England for me, my friends and family is the Tilford Fete Day in early July. We plan and build a raft and dress up in the chosen theme and head down to our local river ready to compete in the annual raft race. Often a beautiful midsummer day hosts up to 20 rafts competing for the aesthetic prize and the fastest raft in timed races. All the spectators line up along the river throwing water balloons and squirting water guns at the competitors. Its an extremely fun day that lets us express our fun and childish side, although I have to admit to still being competitive.
