Butler JROTC Cadets have the opportunity to go through Marksmanship Training and Testing to become eligible for the JROTC Marksmanship Team. Our cadets shoot air rifles not only to emphasize the safe handling of weapons but also to compete against cadets within different programs.
We currently utilize the 2009 CROSSMAN CHALLENGER Air Rifle.
Marksmanship is a team sport like any other which involves intense practice and utilization of proper shooting skills to become proficient.
Marksmanship shooting consists of three positions; these include prone (laying down and supporting yourself with core strength) , standing, and kneeling (sitting back on the heel of one your legs and using your other leg to support your elbow in which the corresponding hand is holding the rifle.)
